Frequently Asked Questions
How do I order a Commissioned Painting?
To begin your custom piece, you can scroll down to the bottom of this page where it says "Contact Me" and send me a message through the form below, or reach out via Instagram @christinasplace_ or email me at christinapferrari@gmail.com.
Once you get in touch, I’ll guide you through the process with a few gentle questions to understand your vision. Whether it’s a special place, a memory, or a feeling you want captured. Together, we’ll choose the right size and style, and I’ll walk you through timelines, pricing, and what to expect.
It’s a relaxed and heartfelt process from start to finish and I can’t wait to create something meaningful just for you!
How do I pay for a Commission?
Once we confirm the details of your custom artwork, I’ll send you a quote and estimated timeline. You can pay securely using one of the following methods:
- E-transfer (for Canadian customers): Send to christinapferrari@gmail.com
- PayPal (for US customers): send to christinapferrari@gmail.com
Once your payment is received, you’ll get a message confirmation and receipt from christinapferrari@gmail.com
Please note:
Commissions are currently handled through direct messaging or email so we can connect personally and discuss all the details. Since custom pieces are meaningful and unique, I prefer a more thoughtful, one-on-one process before beginning your artwork.
All orders placed through this website (added to your cart) will be processed securely through the Shop app.
Do you require a deposit for commissions?
Yes. To begin a commission, I require payment as follows:
- For pieces under $100 (typically 4×6" or 5×7"): Full payment is required upfront for the painting to start.
- For pieces over $100 (typically 8×10" and larger): A 25% non-refundable deposit is required to begin. The remaining balance is due upon completion, before shipping or delivery.
This helps cover materials, framing, and time. Your commission is officially booked once payment is received, and I’ll reach out to discuss your vision and preferences.
How long does Shipping Take?
Each piece is carefully packaged and shipped from Ontario, Canada.
Originals & Prints: Orders are typically processed within 3–5 business days.
Commissions: Since these are custom-made, please allow 1–2 weeks depending on the size and details of your piece (timeline will be shared upon ordering).
Digital Downloads: When available they will be instantly available upon purchase - no shipping needed!
You’ll receive a confirmation email with tracking once your order ships.
Do you offer local pickup or delivery?
Yes! If you're located in Toronto, Mississauga, or the general GTA (Southern Ontario), I’m happy to coordinate a local delivery or meetup for your order. Once your piece is ready, I’ll reach out to arrange a time and place that works best.
To save time, paintings 5×7" and smaller can also be mailed and usually arrive within a few business days. This option is often quicker and more convenient for both of us!
Do you Ship Internationally?
At this time, I currently ship within Canada & US only. I hope to expand to international orders in the future, but for now, I’m focused on delivering artwork safely and reliably to North American customers. Thank you for your understanding and support!
**United States Customs & Shipping Policy**
Due to recent changes in US customs regulations, shipping rates for artwork traveling from Canada to the United States have increased. In some cases, shipping may be over $100, and US customs may charge an additional duty or import fee upon delivery.
These charges are set by US customs and the shipping carrier. They are not collected or controlled by Christina’s Place, and customers are responsible for any fees required to receive their package.
I always aim to keep shipping as reasonable as possible, while making sure your artwork arrives safely and beautifully packaged. If you are ordering from the United States, please keep these potential fees in mind.
I truly appreciate your support and understanding.
What materials do you use for a pastel painting?
Each pastel painting is created using high-quality, professional materials to ensure richness, softness, and longevity. I typically use:
- Soft pastels (Brand: Sennelier)
- Pastel pencils for finer details
- Sanded down Arches 100% cotton paper, which offers beautiful texture and durability
- Fixative spray (lightly applied) to help minimize smudging during handling
Every piece is packaged with delicate details and care to protect the artwork and ensure it arrives safely to you.
Can I return my painting?
Due to the fragility of the drawing and its medium, no returns will be accepted unless the drawing has been heavily damaged - externally and internally - during shipment, in which case please contact me promptly by e-mail at the following address, providing photos proving the state of receipt before opening the package:
christinapferrari@gmail.com
However, as the painting is packaged with the greatest care in protective bubble wrap and several layers of thickness, any painting received in the correct condition must be opened with care. It is therefore your responsibility not to damage it, otherwise no return will be possible.
As pastel is an unstable medium, a small amount of pigment may have slipped
through and stained the blank areas during the journey. Don't hesitate to send me a photo of the drawing if this happens, but don't worry, pastel can be erased with a soft eraser!
Can I Cancel my Order?
Orders may be canceled within 24 hours of purchase, as long as they haven’t been shipped or started. Please email me as soon as possible at christinapferrari@gmail.com with your order number.
How can I tell if my Artwork is original or not?
Every original piece from Christina’s Place is one-of-a-kind, created by hand using soft pastels on professional-grade paper. Originals will never be duplicated or sold again.
You’ll also receive a signed certificate of authenticity to confirm that your piece is an original work of art.
Once they are available - Prints may be lightly touched up for clarity, color correction, or image quality—especially to preserve the softness and detail of the original when reproduced. This ensures the final version you receive looks as beautiful as possible in print or on screen.
Are Commissions Framed or Unframed?
All commissions are set to be framed with a frame of your choice. If you’d like to use your own frame, I offer unframed commissions in sizes that fit standard frames. Framed options are chosen with care and included in the price.
Matted white borders are also available however price may vary.
Do your paintings in your online shop come framed?
Most paintings sold through my website are unframed. This allows for more flexibility in how you choose to display your piece and helps keep shipping simple and affordable.
From time to time, I may release special pieces that come with a frame of my choice. These will be clearly marked and priced accordingly in the listing.
How do I know which frame I will receive?
Each frame is carefully chosen to complement the colors, mood, and size of your artwork. I typically use high quality wood or gallery-style frames in natural, white, or soft neutral tones and styles that enhance the art without distracting from it.
If you have a specific preference (color, finish, or style), feel free to let me know when you place your order, and I’ll do my best to match it. Otherwise, trust that I’ll choose something beautiful and timeless that fits your piece perfectly. All frames are found locally and include a proper backing with hook for your convenience.
Special Note: I also offer frames with a white matted border if requested. (Price may vary)
Can I see my commission before I receive it?
Yes! Once your painting is complete, I’ll send a preview photo for your approval. Small revisions like adjusting a tone or softening an edge are welcomed before shipping.
What sizes do you offer for Commissions?
I offer a range of small to medium sizes, including:
4x4", 4x6", 5x7", 8x10", 9x12", 11x14",
12x16", 16"x20", 18"x24" and 24"x36"
If you’re looking for a specific size not listed, feel free to reach out before
ordering—I may be able to accommodate it!
Special Note: I also offer frames with a white matted border if requested. (Price may vary)
Do you take rush orders?
If you need a painting by a certain date, please reach out in advance before ordering. I may be able to accommodate a rush request depending on my current workload. A small rush fee may apply.
Can I request changes after the painting is done?
Small adjustments (like softening an area or tweaking a color) are welcome before shipping. Major changes may not be possible, as pastels can’t be painted over like acrylics or oils. I do my best to communicate throughout the process to ensure you’re happy with the final result.
Do you offer mock-ups before starting a commission?
Sometimes I use Procreate or Photoshop to add elements or color block your image to
get a sense of the painting before it has started. I only do this for customers
who request it - so if you'd like a mock up I can quickly do it with a small
upcharge.
What kinds of subjects do you paint (and not paint)?
My paintings are inspired by the calming beauty of nature. I love painting landscapes, florals, gardens, trees, meadows, soft skies, clouds, and peaceful places. You’ll often see gentle touches like distant animals or buildings in the background—but they’re never the focus.
I don’t paint architecture, cityscapes, portraits, or pets up close, as my work is
more about mood, memory, and natural softness than detailed realism. If you're
unsure whether your idea fits, feel free to reach out—I'm happy to chat about
it with you.
Will my artwork be signed?
Yes! All originals and prints will have a signature.
I sent my deposit - but what if I change my mind about my painting after you have worked on it but have not sent a full payment yet?
Since each piece is a one-of-a-kind, custom creation, after 24 hours all deposits & sales are final. However, if there’s something small you’re unsure about, I’m happy to make gentle refinements (like softening a color or detail) before shipping.
Your satisfaction matters deeply to me, and I’ll always approach your
commission with intention, heart, and open communication.
If I purchase an unframed original piece can I request a frame for it?
At this time, framing is only available for commissioned pieces. For originals in my shop, I kindly ask that you provide your own frame to best suit your space and style.
